Jan Yngwe is the well known leader of Vocal Art Ensemble of Sweden since 1978. He is also a Professor Superior in Choir and Conducting at the Academy of Music and Drama, Gothenburg University, and is considered one of the most outstanding conductors of his generation in Sweden.
He studied conducting in London, Salzburg and Siena and has conducted all first rate Swedish orchestras: Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra , Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra etc.
Jan Yngwe also works internationally , and is very much in demand as a conductor, juryer , inspirer and lecturer.
His production as a composer (he is a member of the Society of Swedish Composerts since 1988) is dominated by choir and orchestral music and through the years, many of the pieces have been dedicated directly to Vocal Art Ensemble
Jan is also the recepient of the finest Swedish distinctions for musicians: "Johannes Norrby Medal”( 2004) , ”for his many years of successful and extremely qualified work as a choir conductor” and ”Choral Conductor of the Year 2015” for his superb artistic quality and devotion, both on the national and international stage of choral
music”
In connection with the choir's 35th anniversary in 2013, the name was changed from Kammarkören Pro Musica to Vocal Art Ensemble of Sweden.
